Olive Oil
Andalucia (Southern Spain) was already known in Roman times for the quality of its olive oil, which was exported all over the Roman Empire. Following this tradition of more than 2000 years of olive oil production, the Cortijo de Malapié estate offers a superior quality extra virgin olive oil.
Malapié's oil is made from selected local varieties of olives: "Hojiblanca" gives the oil its aroma, softness and transparency; "Picual" adds stability; and "Lechin de Sevilla" is responsible for the peppery aftertaste.
The result is typical of the very best Andalusian olive oil: a fruity aroma with a distinctive rich flavour and a peppery aftertaste. Our small family-run estate produces only a limited number of bottles. We carefully supervise every step of the production to ensure that the best quality is obtained using environmentally friendly methods. Malapié's olive oil is cold pressed and its natural acidity is less than 0'3%.
Vinegar
To complement its olive oil, Cortijo de Malapié offers an exclusive vinegar "Reserva 12 Años", made of Andalusian grapes. Malapié's vinegar has matured in oak casks during more than 12 years. Its has a gentle aroma and outstanding flavour. We recommend that our vinegar is used in small quantities to give the final touch to a salad or special dish.
Oranges
The Arabs introduced the orange tree to Spain in the Middle Ages and it very quickly became an important part of the local economy. The Cortijo de Malapié estate has 10.000 trees comprising different varieties, but mainly Navelina, Salustiana and Lanelate. Our aim is to produce high quality fruit, whilst respecting and protecting the enviroment. The estate's oranges are only sold to general distributors or supermarkets.
Honey
The estate has a small number of beehives from which we obtain honey using traditional methods. The bees feed from the orange blossoms of our nearby orange grove and from the evergreen oaks of the pastures. We are particularly proud of our "Miel de Azahar" or orange blossom honey.
